The geometry trend is still going strong and it’s not too late to jump on the bandwagon! Maybe you’ve tried it with your clothing, jewelry, or a few other things, but have you given your home a taste? There are many ways to add geometry to your décor, and it’s probably easier than you might think. While some projects may require a little more brainwork (and elbow grease!), you don’t have to go back to school or even remember any mathematical equations – just pick a tutorial, start with one or two simple shapes, and start creating your own diy geometric projects!

1. Hanging Planter

Woodworking Planshow to Woodworking Plans for

Use some fun materials like brass and leather to put this hanging planter together. Fill a decorative bowl with your favorite small plants (maybe some succulents?) and place it in the planter for your immediate decorative pleasure.

2. Dodecahedron Pendant Light

This is a project that requires a bit more effort due to its precise angular cuts, but the result is well-worth it and the details are already laid out for you here. Purchase a basic pendant light kit, attach it to your new geometric wonder, and light up a room.

3. Photo Display

Here’s a geometry project that’s quick and easy! Map it out beforehand or just experiment a bit. And if you don’t want to do this directly on the wall, consider trying it on a large piece of wood, in a big frame, or on your office corkboard!

4. Stitched Animal Art

Even if you’re not much for sewing, the simple tutorial for this geometric animal art will convince you to give it a try. You can get canvas from a craft store (or online) in a variety of sizes. Find an animal silhouette that suits your décor and print it straight from the internet for your template.

5. Heart Pillow

Give an old pillow a new look by adding an angular, piece-y heart. Choose some fun fabrics and use the printable pattern provided by Hart & Sew if you’re not sure where to begin.

6. Plank Headboard

This for 1 last update 2020/07/10 is a great DIY for a thrifty and fabulous wood headboard! It can be made for under $100 and built to fit any bed. 7. Wall Décor

These clever hexagons make the perfect wall décor! Cut from MDF, they can be painted and, according to My Sister’s Suitcase, they can hang using only command strips if you’re worried about damaging walls. And here’s a little tip: you can order an unpainted set of six MDF hexagons (3 solid, 3 hollow) from these ladies’ Etsy shop, GeometreeDesign for a great price!

8. Lamps

Another MDF project, Sarah M. Dorsey Designs has already done the legwork for you when it comes to the measurements for these incredible dodecahedron lamp bases. Follow her design and instructions for the lighting, or use a simple lighting kit to make things even easier.

9. Hanging Pen Holder

Geometry can be both visually pleasing and functional when you craft something like this pen holder! All you need is a block of wood, a drill, and some paint to get started. Draw out your own design or replicate the colorful triangle pattern at Remodelaholic. You might even want to hang your pen holder up on the wall after seeing this tutorial!

10. Doghouse

We couldn’t very well leave our furry friends out when it comes to home geometry! 11. Plastic Straw Planters

If you want to test out the geometric look without committing to a time-consuming or costly DIY, these planters are for you. Why? They’re made from plastic straws, floral wire, and spray paint! Choose a shape and take an hour to put some together – no one will know they’re not the real deal.

12. Triangle Accent Wall

Woodworking Planshow to Woodworking Plans for Are you working with a rental home and aren’t allowed to paint? You’ll love this super-thrifty idea for an accent wall! Use contact paper to cut triangles that can be directly applied to the wall without worrying about damaging existing paint.

13. Wood Trivets

A little accessorizing can go a long way and these wood trivets certainly prove it. Come up with your own designs or draw inspiration from the ones seen on A Beautiful Mess. And if you’re not sure about using them to hold hot pots and pans, why not hang them on a wall as art instead?

14. Washi Tape Door

Here’s another one of those super-simple one-hour projects that can change the look of a whole room. Grab your favorite washi tape and map out a design on the nearest door, using multiple colors and patterns if you like. This makes another great project for a rental as well!

15. Bear Doormat

Your guests will hardly want to wipe their feet on a doormat like this one! Trace or draw your bear (or animal of choice) onto the back side of a straw doormat and cut him out with a sturdy pair of scissors. The geometric lines can be burned into the mat, but you might try just painting it.

16. Centerpiece Boxes

These wooden boxes are simple and look amazing with the busy triangular patterns painted onto them. If live plants aren’t your thing, consider filling your centerpieces with seasonal foliage of the artificial variety.

17. Painted Dresser

Geometric decorating has been around much longer than you might think – try a more traditional take on things with a pattern like the one on this Moroccan-style painted dresser.

18. Dowel Wall Art

Woodworking Planshow to Woodworking Plans for Here’s a project for the adventurous crafter! Made from wooden dowels and string, you can try just about any shape with the right ambition and a drill.

19. Candles

Little projects can have a big impact in your home too – just look at these incredible candles! Use the printable templates from How Did You Make This? to fold geometric molds for shaping the wax. If you need some help getting started, try a simple candle-making kit.

20. Concrete Planters

You can get creative with these planters before and after making them! Because of shipping costs for such a heavy item, the best place to find the concrete mix for the project is at your local home improvement store. Once you’ve made your triangles and allowed them to dry, you can arrange them in many fun patterns!
